Dr. Volker Gangluff / 19. Feb DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH Business Unit Aeronautical Information Management … and why ISO9001 certified organizations can do a little less… Relation DAL to ISO9001…

Dr. Volker Gangluff / 19. Feb DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH Business Unit Aeronautical Information Management ADQ and Quality Management Requirements ADQ IR demands a Quality Management System and lays down basic requirements for that system ANNEX VII 1

Dr. Volker Gangluff / 19. Feb DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH Business Unit Aeronautical Information Management ADQ and Quality Management Requirements Option in (2) 2 ISO9001 certification is an accepted Means of Compliance to ADQ IR ANNEX VII Part A

Dr. Volker Gangluff / 19. Feb DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH Business Unit Aeronautical Information Management IR and related MoCs 3 Governing principles: MoCs shall not add extra costs MoCs shall make the implementation of an IR and achieving compliance with it easier

Dr. Volker Gangluff / 19. Feb DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH Business Unit Aeronautical Information Management ADQ and DAL The DAL Specification was developed in support of ADQ implementation ( to ease implementation and achieving compliance) It focuses on Article 6(2) of the ADQ IR: Data Quality 4 Article 6 … 2. When providing aeronautical data and/or aeronautical information, the parties referred to in Article 2(2) shall comply with the evidence requirements laid down in Annex IV, Part B....

Dr. Volker Gangluff / 19. Feb DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH Business Unit Aeronautical Information Management ADQ and DAL In the development process of the DAL Specification it became evident that some objectives are already covered by ISO9001 To avoid ISO9001 certified organizations having to demonstrate compliance with DAL objectives twice ( see governing principles), some objectives in ANNEX VII (2) were identified, which only have to be addressed by the QMS of non-ISO9001 certified organizations The relationship of DAL objectives to ISO9001 requirements may not always be obvious Assessing these DAL/ISO9001 relationships requires experience in interpreting ISO9001 requirements 5

Dr. Volker Gangluff / 19. Feb DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH Business Unit Aeronautical Information Management Relation DAL – ISO Redundancy Check Delete & Relocate

Dr. Volker Gangluff / 19. Feb DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH Business Unit Aeronautical Information Management Examples DAL: J.3 Additional Objectives for Work Instructions Implementation 7 Redundant Objective

Dr. Volker Gangluff / 19. Feb DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH Business Unit Aeronautical Information Management Examples 8 Redundant Objective

Dr. Volker Gangluff / 19. Feb DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH Business Unit Aeronautical Information Management Summary The relationships of DAL objectives to ISO requirements were clarified Appropriate references to ISO documentation were provided The DAL Specification were restructured as to outline additional objectives that have to be met by non-ISO9001 certified organizations This approach ensures that the implementation is better aligned with an organizations generic QMS and avoids auditing the same requirement twice, i.e. once to demonstrate compliance with a DAL objective and another time to demonstrate ISO9001 compliance 9
