Day 3 in Geometry Please clear your desk of everything except a pencil and scrap paper (if you would like some)

Learning Target I can add, subtract, multiply, and divide real numbers without a calculator. Today we are taking a quiz over the above learning target. You are not allowed to use your calculator and you are asked to do your best. While this is a learning target for Algebra I, this will more than likely be the only day you are not allowed to use your calculator. If you struggle with concepts like adding fractions, you will need to review yourself on your own time; this is a skill you will need when we get to the end of the Algebra I.

The Quiz You have 20 minutes to complete the 10 question multiple choice quiz. – Once time is called, we will check answers. Please pace yourself and try to fill in all blanks. – Skipping an answer or not getting to a question is still counted as missed; watch the time! Time will begin once everyone has their quiz

After you finish your quiz Sit quietly – Do not get up; stay seated – No talking or interacting with others around you; even if you are both finished – If you have something else you would like to work on, feel free, until time is called; however, technology is not needed today, therefore, do not have it out.

Grading the Quiz Trade papers with someone sitting close to you; be sure you no longer have your own paper. Sign your name at the top of your classmates paper to verify you graded their work. Mark the questions they missed and circle the correct answer for them.

Reading Quizzes Every Friday you will have a reading quiz. Each quiz has a short passage and 6 questions. Quizzes are not necessarily tied to the learning targets we are studying; however, they all revolve around important math concepts.

After you finish your reading quiz Quietly get up and place your quiz in the homework/assignment tray on the bookshelf under the flag. – This will be the main turn-in area for assignments, quizzes, etc. Return to your seat and sit quietly until others are finished – No talking or interacting with others around you; even if you are both finished – If you have something else you would like to work on, feel free. Again, technology is not needed today, therefore, do not have it out.

Constructed Responses You will have a CR on every unit exam and sporadically throughout the year. These are very important. – We will keep up with many of your CR’s in a writing portfolio, which will reflect your growth in writing and math comprehension during the year. CR’s will be graded in a variety of formats – Peer grade, teacher grade, self grade

Practice Constructed Response Use the rubric given to develop the highest level of answer you can for your constructed response prompt. Typically you would have approximately 15 minutes to complete a CR; however, today, you have until 5 minutes before the bell rings. Pace yourself.
