Grace Fellowship Church Pastor/Teacher - Jim Rickard www.GraceDoctrine.org Tuesday, October 1, 2013

Prov 28:13, “He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.”

Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.— Amen.

Prov 3:5, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.”

The Book of Proverbs Chapter 10 Section II: Unit 5, Contrasting Fear Vs. 27 - 30

“Head knowledge” is extrapolated to “application in life” in these comparisons.

Prov 10:27

Prov 10:27 “Fear” - YIRAH, יִרְאָה The concept of worship and obedience towards YHVH, Prov 1:7, 29; 2:5; 8:13; 9:10

If we have YIRAH for the Lord the blessing we receive is “prolonged life.” YASAPH, יָסַף YOM, יוֹם

The blessing associated with the intake and application of God’s Word is “more days” here on earth to glorify God, Prov 3:2; 9:11.

The Contrast!

The Contrast! The wicked will receive “Shortened” - QATSAR, קָצַר = to harvest or shortened. “Life” - SHANAH, שָָׁנה, = years!

The wicked person will not have extended days to glorify God because of the third stage of Divine discipline.

John 15:6, “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.”

The “prolonged life” of the righteous believer is compared to the “no sorrow” ETSEB life of vs. 22 that means “no toil or laborious work” to execute God’s plan.

God does not require our human power, resources or assets to walk in His Plan, but to appropriate His grace in faith to worship, serve, and glorify Him.

Prov 10:28

Prov 10:28 “Hope” - TOCHELETH, תּוֹחֶלֶת Confidently and securely residing inside of God’s plan for your life with a Personal Sense of Destiny thereby having impact on those around you.

The confident expectation of the “righteous” results in “gladness”, SIMCHAH, ‏ שִׂמְחָה, the feeling and display of joy, often expressed by exceeding joy or jubilation. The +H of God!

It is the joy the believer has as a result of having their hopes and desires met, fulfilled in what they are doing as they consistently walk inside the Plan of God.

The Contrast!

The Contrast! “Expectation” - TIQWAH, תִּקְָוה = “hope.” Used here for the wicked whose hope will perish.

For those believers who are in reversionism, whatever they are hoping or longing for in this life will not be satisfied. Their lusts and desires will not be satiated.

The two basic ways of life are contrasted by comparing their results; fulfillment and joy in life for the righteous, yet unfulfilled desires leading to sorrow and death for the wicked

Prov 23:18, “Surely there is a future (for the righteous), and your hope will not be cut off.”

Prov 24:14, “Know that wisdom is thus for your soul; if you find it, then there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off.”

Prov 11:7, “When a wicked man dies, his expectation will perish, and the hope of strong men perishes.”

Prov 11:23, “The desire of the righteous is only good, but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.”

Prov 10:29

Prov 10:29 “Stronghold” - MA’OZ, מָעוֹז, “A place or means of safety, protection, refuge, or stronghold; a fortress.”

YHVH is the Protector, the Fortress of the righteous, 2 Sam 22:33, and the poor and defenseless, Psa 52:7.

“The upright” – TOM, תֹּם The one of integrity – the spiritually mature believer.

In times of difficulties and disasters, outward pressures and stress, the Lord is the fortress or refuge for the spiritually mature believer.

The Contrast!

The Contrast! The Lord is not a hiding place for the reversionistic believer but a Father of discipline as His judgments bring “ruin to the workers of iniquity.”

The reversionistic believer does not have the FLOT line of their soul deployed, cf. Eph 6:12ff.

As a result, the outward pressures of life become inward stress upon the soul leading to fear, worry and anxiety - Divine discipline.
