2. Birth Ray was born September 23,1930 in Albany Georgia.

3. Early Life As a child he was very poor. As a child he wore no shoes. He was blind by age 7. He was tought only classical music.

4. Adult Life In 1948 Ray and two other musicians formed a band called the Mcson Trio. Ray was in movies and commercials mostly Pepsi.

5. Significant Accomplishments Ray was inducted into Georgia’s Hall of Fame in 1979. His version of Georgia on My Mind became the official state song of Georgia.

6. Death He died June 10,2004 in Beverly Hills California.
