The Snow Disaster and earthquake happened in China in 2008 highlighted the importance of emergency communication. 4 standards are undertaken: Research of Regional Spatial Emergency Communication System; General technical requirement of satellite communication system used in emergency communication; Service Requirements of Emergency Communication on Different Emergency Situations; Research of Emergency Short Message Service Scheme for Public Satellite Communication In view of the vital role satellite communication has played in the course of Wenchuan earthquake relief in 2008, CCSA established Satellite Communications Task Group in TC5 to carry out standardization activities in the field of Satellite Communications. Some of projects can not be finished on schedule; The training of standards drafter need to be reinforced; Cooperation with global standards bodies need to be further strengthened. Challenges
