The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Holy Trinity and enjoyed the same eternal existence as the Father and the Son. Genesis 1:2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. Hebrews 9:14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God ….. 3

Omnipresence - Psalm 139:7-10 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. Omniscience - 1 Corinthians 2:10-11 But God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. Omnipotence - Luke 1:35 The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God. 4

Creation – Job 33:4 The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life. The inspiration of the Holy Scriptures – 2 Peter 1:21 For prophecy never has its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. Conviction of the Unsaved – John 16:8 When he comes, he (Spirit) will convict the world of guilt. Regeneration of the sinner – John 3:5-6 Jesus answered, “ I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 5

Indwelling the believer – 1 Corinthians 3:16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are the God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? Sealing the believer – Ephesians 1:13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit. Empowering the believer – Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.. 6

Witnessing our sonship – Romans 8:16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Interceding in prayer – Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.. Manifesting God’s personality – Galatians 5:16,22 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature…. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.. 7

The works of the flesh – Galatians 5:19-21 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of anger, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. Fruit of the Spirit – Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (Memory Verse) 8

Manifestation gifts (visible evidence) – 1 Cor 12:7-10 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still still another the interpretation of tongues. 9

Ministry gifts Ephesians 4:11 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. 1 Corinthians 12:28 And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different tongues. 10
