 Design based off modern- style windmills  3 blades for wind capture, and lessen the weight  PVC support column and wood base for stability  Spent approx. 15 hours total building and planning

 First obtained all the materials  Made the blades first then attached to top of support  Made the generator and connected to pipe  Went back and taped any problem areas up

 The generator consists of a neodymium magnet in a PVC housing with wire wrapped around.  Magnet connected by dowel to blades to turn in housing Theoretical Power =.5 x rho x A x v^3 =.5 x (1.225) x (.1934) x (9.835)^3 = 112.69W Actual Power= V=.93 voltsI= 4.3 Amps P= V x I=.93 x 4.3 =3.99 W Efficiency = (Power Actual/Power theoretical) x 100 =(3.99/112.69) x 100 = 3.54%

Dowel Rods- $4Keeping it together with duct tape Base Board- $5 Priceless (But really $2) Wire- $2 Spray Paint- $10 PVC Pipe- $5Total Cost- $38.00 Neodymium Magnet- $10

 Obtaining all the materials; had to make several trips  Getting the current to generate  Producing enough power to light the bulb  Stability of all the materials  Getting together to meet

 Its harder to induce the current than one might think  Even the best generators aren’t extremely efficient  Probably should have used lighter materials for the blades so they spin faster  Our design had potential, but required more work than originally thought

 All the materials were obtained from Wal- Mart, Lowe’s, and Estabrook 13  Used recitation notes for efficiency
