I.T MEDIA WHAT IS IT MEDIA? THE SCOPE AND LIMITATION THE SCOPE AND LIMITATION

1. Set of tools, processes, and methodologies (such as coding/programming, data communications, data conversion, storage and retrieval, systems analysis and design, systems control) and associated equipment employed to collect, process, and present information. In broad terms, IT also includes office automation, multimedia, and telecommunications. http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/information-technology-IT.html

2. 2. IT (information technology) is a term that encompasses all forms of technology used to create, store, exchange, and use information in its various forms (business data, voice conversations, still images, motion pictures, multimedia presentations, and other forms, including those not yet conceived). http://searchdatacenter.techtarget.com/definition/IT 3. "I.T." refers to anything related to computing technology, such as networking, hardware, software, the Internet, or the people that work with these technologies. http://techterms.com/definition/it

1. Communication channels through which news, entertainment, education, data, or promotional messages are disseminated. Media includes every broadcasting and narrowcasting medium such as newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, billboards, direct mail, telephone, fax, and internet. Media is the plural of medium and can take a plural or singular verb, depending on the sense intended.

2. Data storage material divided into three broad categories according to the recording method: (1) Magnetic, such as diskettes, disks, tapes, (2) Optical, such as microfiche, and (3) Magneto- Optical, such as CDs and DVDs. http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/media.html

 Let’s put together in short, what is I.T Media in this class? Information technology media is as means, tools, to enhance teaching and learning process by applying all forms of technology (I.T) used to create, store, exchange, and to be exploited for the sake of instructional (teaching & learning) purposes.

 This course is designed to introduce the underlying concepts and the use of different types of media (e.g., non-projected media, projected visuals, audio, video, computer, and the Internet) to English language learners, so that they will access these materials to help their learning in general as well as learning of English language. Students may apply the use of these media into teaching or presentations in their present/future workplaces.

THIS COURSE ENABLES STUDENTS TO: (1). Identify and learn about a wide variety of uses of technology in education and English language learning (2) Experience learning of English language through the use of different types of media (3) Access the Internet and search for useful online English learning resources (4) Read about successful stories on English language learning via telecommunications (5) Develop your own English language learning sources.

 What is Using Media to Enhance Teaching and Learning?  Media can be a component of active learning strategies such as group discussions or case studies. Media could be a a film clip, a song you hear on the radio, podcast of a lecture or newspaper article. Students can also create their own media. For example, student video projects can be a powerful learning experience.  The use of media to enhance teaching and learning complements traditional approaches to learning. Effective instruction builds bridges between students' knowledge and the learning objectives of the course. Using media engages students, aids student retention of knowledge, motivates interest in the subject matter, and illustrates the relevance of many concepts.

 The Importance of Media in the Classroom As teachers, we have a wealth of information from which to choose for our classrooms. Students are no longer limited by the walls of a classroom or the knowledge of a single textbook. The world is available to most classrooms, even when students do not have their own computers. We can bring the media into the classroom through visuals, sounds, smells, and tastes. In addition, we should bring technology to the classroom because:

 Technology is not limited by the classroom walls.  Technology does not know or care what the student’s socioeconomic status may be, and thus helps to level the playing field for these students.  Technology provides an equal opportunity for everyone to learn.  Technology is more in tune with the way our students learn today.  Technology is so much a part of the real world that to limit its use in the classroom is to limit our students’ ability to compete in the world.

 The term I.T sometimes changeable with, people known as, multimedia technology. Therefore, it is necessary to state here that we also use multimedia termination as one of I.T’s  It is recognized that conventional media technologies can no longer meet the needs of our teaching and learning processes; as a result they are being replaced by multimedia technology. This technology provides a learning environment that is self-paced, learner-controlled and individualized.

as the combination of various digital media types such as text, images, sound and video, into an integrated multi-sensory interactive application or presentation to convey a message or information to an audience.  Multimedia is defined as the combination of various digital media types such as text, images, sound and video, into an integrated multi-sensory interactive application or presentation to convey a message or information to an audience. In other words, multimedia means “an individual or a small group using a computer to interact with information that is represented in several media, by repeatedly selecting what to see and hear next” (Agnew, Kellerman and Meyer, 1996).  Reisma (1994) described multimedia as a ray of “computer-driven interactive communication system, which create, store, transmit and retrieve, textual, graphic and auditory networks of information.

 For that purpose, our activities in this course will focus on the use of I.T Media in term of multimedia and Social Media. The followings are three forms of them which will be used through out this semester. o Computer based project (off line)  power point o Social media based project (on line)  Facebook, BBM, IG, etc. o Network / internet based project (on line)  website or blog

 Determine the group. The group members should be representative to the numbers of participants in the class.  Determine the ‘number of the group’ or the presentation no.  Submit the names.
