1 Teen Job Project Generation Citizen Project Created by Malden High School Students Sociology Semester Course Mr. Lightbody

2 Teen Job Awareness Students found that...  26% of teens who want a job can’t find one.  Malden has little resources to help teens find summer jobs.  Students researched Boston Youth Fund and would like to bring that resource to Malden.

3 Purpose  Provide students with resources to help find a summer job  Provide students with skills such as resume writing and interview preparation to help attain jobs  Publicize job opportunities for teens through local news papers, community television and world wide web

4 Process  Students identified people and organizations who would be able to help them obtain summer jobs  Students were divided into groups and researched statistics, proper jobs etiquette, and provided a written proposal  Students will be presenting their topic at Malden High School’s Senior Internship Exhibition on May 26

5 Challenges  Class experienced difficulty contacting officials to help gain information on jobs available in the city.  School Internet filtering blocked many research sites  MHS Senior Internship took away many members of the group. Forced other students to take on greater roles.

6 Successes  Students have provided blueprint of organization to help teens get employment  Students excited about helping others find jobs
