1 The Role of the School Council “Student voice” in Clare Mount By Adam (Year 7), Jon and Owen (Year 11). Picture: Jon and Owen with 3 Tranmere FC players promoting Beat The Street.

2 The School Council helps celebrate the Commonwealth values Humanity Equality And Destiny 1414

3 The School Council meets once a month, or whenever they need to meet. The School Council is currently debating the School name... Should we stay as ‘Clare Mount Specialist Sports College’, drop the ‘Specialist’ or become ‘Clare Mount High School’.

4 There is 1 person per form across the school on the School Council. These people are voted for by their form each year.

5 A number of people on the School Council are Peer Mentors. They help people, and run activities at lunchtime.

6 The School Council members listen to ideas from their form and put them forward

7 Pupils at Clare Mount are encouraged to be leaders themselves and suggest trips and other events

8 10 pupils became Games Makers at London 2012 acting as ‘Kit carriers’ inside the Olympic Stadium

9 Every Monday and Friday Year 10s and 11s do Community Service through the Duke of Edinburgh Award

10 Sports Leaders organise lots of competitions between forms and involving our cluster of schools

11 Our School Games Organising Crew

12 Some of our Commonwealth Class Ambassadors with Paralympian Rik Waddon

13 Some pupils help with lunchtime clubs and Community Sport Night on Wednesdays

14 Some pupils interview guests and act as ICT / Drama leaders

15 Clare Mount pupils provide a voice on the Wirral Healthy Schools Panel

16 And also provide a voice at The Youth Parliament

17 We promote ‘health’ through Beat the Street – A global walking / cycling challenge against some Commonwealth Countries

18 Sometimes we sit on interview panels for new teachers

19 We also help organise Sport Relief events & Fundraising

20 20 pupils will be Junior Golf Supervisors at The British Golf Open to be held near our School on Wirral
