I will change the seating arrangement as necessary. I decided to put my desk in the corner to be out of the way, and yet be able to see what my students are doing. I was also thinking that there would be more room in the corner for any cabinets and anything else I might accumulate throughout the year. I did not like the idea of computer labs or for every child to have their own computer; although, I do think that children should have ample access to computers. I think that with only a few computers it will be easier to monitor students’ use and the students would have access, albeit limited access, to the computers.

I hope to be able to fill my students with the love for reading that I have. For the students’ independent reading time I was thinking that they could spread out as they wished. Everyone needs storage space right? Admittedly, this is probably not enough. I was never in a classroom that had enough storage space! I would love to be able to have an area dedicated to small groups. This be a space for the students to come together and work on whatever they needed to do. The children could be able to get together and be “loud and noisy.”

I liked the times that were spent as a class on the floor. I hope that my will have the same experiences while they are in my class. This will be an empty space for the entire class to have time as a class of for group projects. I don’t think that it is very reasonable to expect young children to want to sit still all day!
