13 Compare and Order Integers At the end of this lesson you should be able to answer the following question. How can symbols and absolute value help you order sets of integers?

14 Integers The number line can be used to compare and order integers. On a number line, the number to the left is always less than the number to the right.

15 Integers An inequality is when two values are not equal. e.g. 6 > 3

16 Integers Write -9 and -4 as an inequality.

17 Integers Write -9 and -4 as an inequality. -9 -4 -9 < -4 Generally you want to keep the integers in the same order as in the question.

18 Integers Write -5 and 0 as an inequality.

19 Integers Write -5 and 0 as an inequality. -5 0 -5 < 0

20 Integers Replace with to make the statement true. -6 5 -5 0

21 Integers Replace with to make the statement true. -6 5 -5 0 Since -6 is to the left of 5 it is less than 5. -6 < 5

Or you could have added the times in the table, 15 + 35 + 10 + 20 = 80 minutes Then figure out what time is 80 minutes before 8:15. 80 minutes is 1 hour and 2o minutes. An hour before 8:15AM is 7:15. 20 minutes before that is 6:55AM
