3 Yom Kippur lasts 1 day, but Rosh Hashanah co mes before it and the time in between is ten days. A special custom on Yom Kippur is the Shofar. 4 Historical Background -Moses got the 10 commandments from God -He came down from Mount Sinai and saw everyone worshipping the golden calf - He broke the 10 commandments (^Rosh Hashanah) -He went back up to Mount Sinai and got new ones, then told the Jews they were forgiven for their sins. -When he came down that day was Yom Kippur, the tenth of Tishri, the seventh month in the Jewish calendar.
