5 AFP’s MISSION The Association of Fundraising Professionals, an association of professionals throughout the world, advances philanthropy by enabling people and organizations to practice ethical and effective fundraising. The core activities through which AFP fulfills this mission include education, training, mentoring, research, credentialing, and advocacy.

6 AFP’s VISION Fundraising is viewed as a credible and respected profession for civic betterment throughout the world.

8 Strategic Plan Goals 1.­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­AFP will develop skilled, knowledgeable and ethical professionals worldwide. 2.­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­AFP will advance effective, ethical and accountable fundraising standards as an essential component of global philanthropy. 3.­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­AFP will aggressively promote and defend public policy that encourages philanthropy, supporting principles important to AFP and the fundraising profession. 4.AFP will deliver optimal value to members. 5.­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­AFP, a community of inclusion, will seek, embrace and engage diverse individuals, groups and organizations with a broad representation of experiences, perspectives, thoughts and cultures within the fundraising profession. 6.­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­AFP will provide strong leadership in promoting and supporting the fundraising community worldwide. 7.AFP will engage young professionals and youth exploring philanthropy and building their fundraising careers.

15 COMMITTEE ON DIRECTORSHIP (COD) Composition of COD – 1 member elected from each of 12 districts – 6 appointees or ex-officio members Role of COD –Evaluates all nominees for the AFPBoard –Creates slate of Directors to be elected by the members
