6 Lycée Alexis de Tocqueville Grasse, France Report on our Comenius evening We had decided from the start that it would be the students’ evening. So they prepared a Powerpoint presentation and rehearsed very seriously. Some made posters to decorate the room. We invited all the members of the School Board, the representatives of the parents’ associations, of the Town Council and the Region Council, all the parents, the teachers, the students and the local newspaper. On D-Day, we prepared a small buffet. Around 30 people came. I opened the show and explained the work that had been done during the first year of the project and the school principal said a few words about the importance of exchanges in the process of learning languages and building Europe. He then gave the floor to the students.

7 Lycée Alexis de Tocqueville Grasse, France They did a very good job. They took turns to explain the various aspects of the project: the goals, the topics we will work on, how we will proceed, the visits, the final products, the site, the videoconferences and the financial help from the European Community… They made it clear that team work was of paramount importance and the success of the project depended on everyone. The representative of the Rectorat, the local educational authorities, concluded the presentation saying that participating in a Comenius project was a once-in-a-lifetime chance and that the students were very lucky as only 5 schools had been selected in the region. A question time followed and the questionaires were handed out and filled in. We finished the evening around the buffet, chatting and discussing with everyone.

8 Lycée Alexis de Tocqueville Grasse, France A few days later, an article was published in the local newspaper, Nice-matin. The end
