3 Erasmus Mundus – Action 2 Complementary to other EU HE initiatives: LLP, Tempus, Asia Link, Alfa, Alban, Edulink Financing partnerships for student and staff mobility between the EU and “Third Countries” grouped in geographical lots. Cooperation and mobility scheme at 5 levels: Undergraduate, Master, Doctorate, Post-doc and Staff Funded by the European Comission. 2

4 What is Erasmus Mundus? “Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility programme in the filed of higher education for: the enhancement of quality in European higher education; the promotion of the European Union as a centre of excellence in learning around the world; the promotion of intercultural understanding through cooperation with third countries in the filed of higher education. 3

14 58,5% of the scholarships open to candidates of Target Group 1: Students, teachers and administrative staff registered or affiliated in one of the Central Asian universities member of the partnership. 29% of the scholarships open to candidates of Target Group 2: Students, teachers and administrative staff registered or affiliated in other Central Asian universities or PhD candidates having obtained a university degree by an institution of the Central Asian countries involved. 12% of the scholarships open to candidates of Target Group 3: Nationals of the participating countries who are in particularly vulnerable situations, for social, economics and political reasons. 13
