1 John 5:6-8

6 This is the one who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. 7 And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is the truth. 8 For there are three that bear witness, the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. NASB

7 And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is the truth. 8 For there are three that bear witness, the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. KJV 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

Are There 3 or 6 That Bear Witness? Modern Translations  The Holy Spirit  The Water  The Blood KJV ƒ In Heaven...  The Father  The Word  The Holy Spirit ƒ On Earth...  The Holy Spirit  The Water  The Blood

Most Agree That It Should Be Only 3!!!  None of the ancient Greek manuscripts contain the addition, except four of them. These all have late dates (11th-16th Centuries).  The addition is not quoted by the "apostolic fathers" who were engaged themselves in a doctrinal fight over the godhead.  The only modern translation to have it is the New King James.

Why Were 3 More Witnesses Included?  Erasmus omitted the verse in his printed Greek text of A.D. 1516.  He was criticized and agreed to include it if it could be found in a Greek manuscript.  The additional words were found in Greek manuscript 61 of the 16th Century. Therefore, Erasmus kept his promise and inserted the inclusion in his 3rd edition of the Greek text.  Soon after, Stephanus included it in his Greek text of A.D. 1550. This became the “Received Text” or also known as the “Textus Receptus”. The King James translators used Stephanus’ Greek text for their Bible and, thus, the words were included.

What Does John Mean By Water and Blood? Jesus (a man) Christ (a god) Baptism Cross = Water = Blood

The Snowball of False Doctrine All Matter Is Evil Christ Did Not Die On The Cross Christ Must Have Left Prior To The Cross Jesus & Christ Are Different Beings

The Snowball of False Doctrine Original Sin The Immaculate Conception of Mary Infant Baptism Confirmation

What Can We Learn?  The Misunderstanding of Witness Testimony Today.  Religion Is Becoming More About Self and Less About God.  You Are Placed On A Jury To Determine The Truth of Jesus. Whose Testimony Are You Going to Belive?
