Sulfur is an impurity in fossil fuels so as the fuel is burned, the creation of SO 2 can occur which can lead to acid rain

Because methane is a greenhouse gas it goes up and stays in the atmosphere so when heat from the sun goes through and cycles around the earth as heat is leaving it gets trapped by the gas effectively changing the climate. Methane is a greenhouse gas, so it stays out of the earth and contributes in reradiating the suns rays back into earth which then contributes to raising the earths temperature. When methane is released, some of it travels around into the atmosphere. The suns rays then hit the earth, but instead of bouncing back, they become trapped in the atmosphere, because of the methane and other gases. The trapped gases cause the climate to rise. -That methane is a greenhouse gas -That greenhouse gas change weather patterns or causes global warming -That greenhouse gases absorbs energy (or infrared light or heat or radiation) that is radiated back from the earth -That greenhouse gases re-radiates (or reflects) some of this energy that is radiated back from earth

You should also know about some developments to overcome problems with fuels Plants can provide sugars to -make oils that can be used as biodiesel OR -make ethanol (fermenting sugar using yeast, this can then be added to petrol to make gasohol producing less pollution & reducing the amount of oil needed) Fossil fuels are running out.
