 Pagination—process of flowing text lines from page to page, used to determine when and where a new page should begin  Page Break—the place where one page ends and another begins ◦ This can be inserted manually by you—hard page break. ◦ OR these occur automatically at the end of the document— soft page break.

 Header—appears at the top of the page.  Footer—appears at the bottom of the page.  Different First Page—is an option that removes the header or footer from the first page or allows a different header or footer on the first page.  Page Numbers—are included in some of the headers and footer styles.

 Portrait—a page layout in which documents are printed across the width of the page, making is taller than it is wide.  Landscape—a page layout in which documents are printed across the length of the page, making is wider than it is tall.

 You can divide a document into two or more sections.  A section is a part of a document where you can create a different layout from the rest of the document.  When formatting marks (Show/Hide) are displayed, a section break is indicated by a double dotted line across the page with the words Section Break in the middle.

 A table is an arrangement of text or numbers in rows and columns, similar to a spreadsheet. ◦ Row – horizontal line of cells in a table ◦ Column—vertical line of cells in a table ◦ Cell – portion of a table that is formed by the intersection of a row and column ◦ Gridlines – lines that mark the boundaries of cells in a table Cell Rows Columns

 Merge – combines several cells into a single cell.  Split – separates a cell into several cells.  You can also convert text to a table. Merged Cell Cell

 Sorting – arranges a list in a different order ◦ Ascending (a to z or low to high) ◦ Descending (z to a or high to low).

 You can easily add borders, shading, rotate text, change alignment, and other formatting to a table.  The easiest way to format a table is to use one of the many predesigned styles. ◦ This was called AutoFormat or Styles
