3 What is a Leader Anyway? -leader vs. famous person -Positive role modelling vs. negative role modelling

4 Group Work: In groups, create a mind map that includes as many leadership qualities as your group can think of. (8 mins) Each group should be prepared to present their top 3 qualities and put them on the board As a class, we will formulate our own Leadership Top Ten! (use worksheet)

10 GROUP TASKS: Task #1: In your group, create a short skit that illustrates how your style of leader might behave. Task #2: On the chart paper provided, brainstorm the strengths and weaknesses that your style of leader might have- Hint: think about how they might work (or not) in groups!

15 Falling Mountain: Scenario “Your hiking group has been trying o reach the top of the mountain. Finally they reach the very top and celebrate by taking a picture. Just as the picture is taken, the sides of the mountain begin to slide away, making the standing area small for the group. Help is on the way, but the group must keep everyone on the top of the mountain as the area becomes smaller”.

16 Solve the Mystery! Debriefing: 1) As a group identify: –What would you do differently next time in order to: increase productivity Increase the quality of work Increase the sense of group consensus. 2) Observer: provide feedback on the notes taken during the activity
