1 Gathering Evidence Teachers should gather a ‘photo album’ rather than a ‘snapshot’ (Tomlinson & McTighe, 2006) Miss Thomis – Glenaire Primary School

2 My School Glenaire – BD17 In an area of high unemployment. On entry to nursery only 32% of children working at ARE. Pupil premium is above the national average - 46%. 51 children are on the SEN register.

3 My Classroom Class practise – ethos to learning Timetable – what you fit where Provision – areas within the classroom and excess to outdoor areas Additional staff - their expertise to enhance and gather assessment.

4 Maths Maths in my Setting One weekly problem solving sessions Morning Challenge OR Basic Skills Mini maths sessions with the class TA Maths play in provision My maths on the computer – their ICT warm up Evidence and Assessment Tools Math Mountains Maths Passports (targets & Homework) Whiteboard Jotters Adults gather evidence on maths tasks/games/challenges Whole class maths file with highlighted APP and any observation notes from maths tasks. Video footage/notes

5 Writing Writing in my Setting Cold write Assessed writing Let’s Get Writing Stimulating writing days Topic writing SPAG (1 lesson a week) Basic skills sessions – Jotters Writing challenges within areas of provision Tools for assessing Gather writing examples for each child to place in our whole class writing file. We assess the writing gathered against the revised criteria. At present signpost work in books which we have used for assessment

6 Reading Reading in my Setting class text oral story telling Reading area, listening centre reading buddies reading café for parents regular library slots Main Reading Activities in which I gather Evidence We have daily reading lessons Weekly 1:1 reading for children below level 2b and children in recieipt of pupil premium Better Reading for children working at between 1c and 2a Weekly Key word checks Daily 30 min phonic sessions

7 How we gather reading evidence Reading Lessons (4 a week) Sometimes shared reading sessions but often a four day plan matched to reading ability. - Guided Reading Record Ows and WOWs and responses to key questions. - Guided Comprehension Record observations and comments. Video sessions - Exploring the Love of Reading (a range of reading activities) Reading outside the reading Lesson 1:1 reading and PM Benchmarking Running Records Whole class reading – daily story time Evidence File Individual reading tracker PM bench marking evidence Observations and comments from reading comprehension sessions Evidence from guided reading sessions Video footage/notes
