2 Area Initiatives and Communities Division There are now 5.5million ethnic minority people in Great Britain. - but they are not all the same Economic activity by ethnic group

3 Area Initiatives and Communities Division The employment rate is 76%, but 15 % lower for ethnic minorities… and if present trends continue it will take 100 years to close the gap…

7 Area Initiatives and Communities Division The Ethnic Minority Employment Task Force  Created in 2003 response to the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit report on ethnic minorities in the labour market.  Advisory group recruited by advertising  The first time a cross - Government strategy developed to raise the ethnic minority employment rate.  Ministers from DWP, DTI, DfES, DCLG, Treasury, Cabinet Office, TUC, CBI, NEP, GLA and EMAG
