Heb. 1:13 But to which of the angels has He ever said: “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool”?

Right now, the Son of God is waiting to experience His rule. And, He’s looking for partners!

Heb. 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?

The angels of God stand ready to help those who desire to share in the rule of the Jesus Christ.

Heb. 2:1 Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.

A greater Speaker with a greater offer means we should listen more closely.

“Drift away” Used in secular literature of a ring slipping off a finger or food going down the wrong way.

We listen more closely by adjusting our time and manner of listening.

When I don’t understand the Bible, it is… My ProblemGod’s Problem

We listen better by the use of our time. Prayer; ask for help Read it, read it, then read it again Think about it; interact with the Author Take it in differently Listening to sermons Listen to Scriptures being read Memorization “How does this apply to my life?”

Heb. 2:2-3a For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation,

The “great salvation” is a share in the ultimate rule of the Son of David! To snub that offer is a great insult!

If ignoring the OT Law with its promise of blessing and cursing could bring physical death, how much more greater consequence would ignoring this offer involve?

Hebrews 2:2 OT Law: Bless/ curse angelsPhysical death consequence given by Co-reign with Christ Jesus/apostlesHeirship loss given by consequence

Heb. 2:3b-4 which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?

Jesus presented the message of the Kingdom (Mk. 1:14-15) and spoke often of it, even after His death and resurrection (Acts 1:3).

It became a dominant theme for the Apostles (Acts 8:12; 19:8; 28:30-31; 1 Cor. 6:9-10; James 2:5; 2 Pet. 1:11).

The message was carried on by the Apostles and they were confirmed as messengers Mark 16:19-20 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

It was common for God to use the supernatural for confirmation of His revelation in the Bible. Moses/JoshuaElijah/ElishaChrist/Apostles

Heb. 2:5 For He has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels.

Hebrews 2:5 The subject of the book of Hebrews is the world to come! For He has not put the world to come of which we speak in subjection to angels.

Here the writer emphasizes that the focus of his book is the Kingdom and that it is not given to angels.

Heb. 2:6-8a But one testified in a certain place, saying: “What is man that You are mindful of him, Or the son of man that You take care of him? You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, And set him over the works of Your hands. You have put all things in subjection under his feet.

Instead, of angels, future rule is given to mankind! Humanity, not angels, will rule the Kingdom!

Psalm 8:3-5 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor.

Psalm 8:6-8 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, All sheep and oxen— Even the beasts of the field, The birds of the air, And the fish of the sea That pass through the paths of the seas.

Given what David was looking at, could humanity’s rule extend to the heavens?

Heb. 8:8b-9 For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.

Jesus is the One to whom this is applied as One “crowned with glory and honor”.

In fact, Jesus Himself applies this Psalm to Himself!

Matt. 21:16 and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise’?”

The Son of Man is ready to rule and invites others to share 1:13-14 The Son of Man will rule and is preparing others to rule with Him! 2:5-18 Don’t ignore the invitation ! 2:1-4
