1 Lecture №5 SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS, THEIR TYPES AND STRUCTURE.

2 Publication (Latin. publicatio - declare nationwide, make public): 1) to the public through the press, radio or television, and 2) the inclusion in various publications (newspapers, magazines, books) work (work), and 3) the text printed in any publication.

4 Main “Terms and Definitions" defines publication as a document that was editing and publishing study made printing, embossing or otherwise, contains information intended for dissemination, and meets state standards and other regulatory documents of publishing design and printing performance.

5 Science is publishing the results of theoretical and (or) experimental studies, as well as trained scientists for publication of cultural artifacts, historical documents and literary texts. It is designed for professionals and for research.

7 The first group of scientific publications include: monograph (science book publishing a full investigation of a problem or topic that belongs to one or more authors), abstract dissertations, preprints, abstracts and Materials Conference (acyclic collection of results of the conference, reports, recommendations and decisions), Scientific Papers (Proceedings of the studies carried out in research institutions, universities and scientific societies).

19 Official opponent on the basis of study and thesis papers applicant, published on the thesis, the review highlights the following mandatory questions as the relevance of the chosen topic, the degree of validity of scientific statements, conclusions and recommendations made in the thesis, their authenticity and novelty, the completeness of their presentation in published works.

20 The main content of the thesis may be covered as in professional journals that are considered fundamental in defense and in any scientific publications that are considered as additional.

21 The essential drawbacks of the current system of scientific publishing are all connected to the particular way that peer review is used to evaluate papers. In particular, the current system suffers from a lack of quality and transparency of the peer review process, a lack of availability of evaluative information about papers to the public, and excessive costs incurred by a system, in which private publishers are the administrators of peer review. These problems can all be addressed by open post-publication peer review (OPR). Together with open access (OA), which is generally accepted as desirable, OPR will revolutionize scientific publishing.

22 In order to enhance research results and coverage provisions of the thesis for a doctor's degree and Ph.D., of the unity of the requirements of SCC of Ukraine approved a number of requirements for publications to be strictly followed.

23 Scientific publications (including scholarly books, journals or collections), which published the main results of theses should be available to the reader located in the collections of major national libraries, must be sent to institutions listed approved HAC of Ukraine. They are:
