EVERLASTING GOD LINCOLN BREWSTER Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord Wait upon the Lord We will wait upon the Lord (repeat)

Our God You reign forever Our Hope our strong Deliverer

You are the everlasting God The everlasting God You do not faint You won't grow weary You're the defender of the weak You comfort those in need You lift us up on wings like eagles

FIRST READING Wis 2:12, 17-20 The wicked say: Let us beset the just one, because he is obnoxious to us; he sets himself against our doings, reproaches us for transgressions of the law and charges us with violations of our training. Let us see whether his words be true;

let us find out what will happen to him. For if the just one be the son of God, God will defend him and deliver him from the hand of his foes. With revilement and torture let us put the just one to the test that we may have proof of his gentleness and try his patience. Let us condemn him to a shameful death;

for according to his own words, God will take care of him.

PSALM Ps 54:3-4, 5, 6 and 8 R. The Lord upholds my life.

O God, by your name save me, and by your might defend my cause. O God, hear my prayer; hearken to the words of my mouth. R. The Lord upholds my life.

For the haughty men have risen up against me, the ruthless seek my life; they set not God before their eyes. R. The Lord upholds my life.

Behold, God is my helper; the Lord sustains my life. Freely will I offer you sacrifice; I will praise your name, O LORD, for its goodness. R. The Lord upholds my life.

SECOND READING Jas 3:16-4:3 Beloved: Where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every foul practice. But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without inconstancy or insincerity.

And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for those who cultivate peace. Where do the wars and where do the conflicts among you come from? Is it not from your passions that make war within your members? You covet but do not possess. You kill and envy but you cannot obtain; you fight and wage war.

You do not possess because you do not ask. You ask but do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.

GOSPEL Mk 9:30-37 Jesus and his disciples left from there and began a journey through Galilee, but he did not wish anyone to know about it. He was teaching his disciples and telling them, “The Son of Man is to be handed over to men and they will kill him, and three days after his death the Son of Man will rise.”

Jesus and his disciples left from there and began a journey through Galilee, but he did not wish anyone to know about it. He was teaching his disciples and telling them, “The Son of Man is to be handed over to men and they will kill him, and three days after his death the Son of Man will rise.” But they did not understand the saying,

and they were afraid to question him. They came to Capernaum and, once inside the house, he began to ask them, “What were you arguing about on the way?” But they remained silent. They had been discussing among themselves on the way who was the greatest. Then he sat down, called the Twelve, and said to them,

“If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.” Taking a child, he placed it in the their midst, and putting his arms around it, he said to them, “Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me.”

PROFESSION OF FAITH We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,

Begotten, not made, one in being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven: (BOW HEAD) By the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered, died, and was buried.

On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures, he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son.

With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

YOU NEVER LET GO MATT AND BETH REDMAN Even though I walk Through the valley of the shadow of death Your perfect love is casting out fear

And even when I'm caught In the middle of the storms of this life I won't turn back I know You are near

And I will fear no evil For my God is with me And if my God is with me Whom then shall I fear Whom then shall I fear

Oh no You never let go Through the calm and through the storm Oh no You never let go In ev'ry high and ev'ry low Oh no You never let go Lord You never let go of me

And I can see a light that is coming For the heart that holds on A glorious light beyond all compare And there will be an end to these troubles But until that day comes We'll live to know You here on the earth

And I will fear no evil For my God is with me And if my God is with me Whom then shall I fear Whom then shall I fear

Oh no You never let go Through the calm and through the storm Oh no You never let go In ev'ry high and ev'ry low Oh no You never let go Lord You never let go of me

ALIVE AGAIN MATT MAHER I woke up in darkness, surrounded by silence Oh where, where have I gone?

I woke to reality losing its grip on me Oh where, where have I gone?

'Cause I can see the light before I see the sunrise

You called and You shouted, broke through my deafness Now I'm breathing in and breathing out, I'm alive again

You shattered my darkness, washed away my blindness Now I'm breathing in and breathing out, I'm alive again

Late have I loved You, You waited for me, I searched for You What took me so long? I was looking outside as if Love would ever want to hide I'm finding I was wrong

'Cause I feel the wind before it hits my skin

You called and You shouted, broke through my deafness Now I'm breathing in and breathing out, I'm alive again

You shattered my darkness, washed away my blindness Now I'm breathing in and breathing out, I'm alive again

'Cause I want You, yes, I want You, I need You, and I'll do Whatever I have to just to get through 'Cause I love You, yeah, I love You

SAVED BY GRACE Just a-singin' a Gospel song today. Gettin' ready to send the years of guilt and shame away. Years of failing, years of nailing up yourself to a cross you can't bear. That's why He's there.

What a beautiful day When He washed our sins away What a beautiful day

By grace you have been saved. By grace you have been saved through faith. Through faith.

And even the faith I have to sing Alle, alle, alleluia to my King Is freely given, that I might not boast in myself, But Him.

What a beautiful day When He washed our sins away What a beautiful day

By grace you have been saved. By grace you have been saved through faith. Through faith.

I can't sing it enough, say it enough, play it enough. When will I get it? No, I can't earn it. And Lord, I don't deserve it. I can't say it enough.

By grace you have been saved. By grace you have been saved through faith. Through faith.
