3 Q2. A. Ask another student B. Ask a teacher to read the question to you C. Just try your hardest D. Leave that question out During the numeracy test you are unsure of a word or instruction. You can… During the Numeracy tests you can ask a teacher to : read any word within a question (including numbers written as words), but they must not read the numbers or symbols. For example, ‘ten’ may be read but ‘10’ may not be read. Answer all questions – eliminate answers you know are wrong and then choose the answer that you think is most correct. This is a test, you cannot talk to another student or look at their work. Of course…but the best answer is…. © LearningYou

6 Q 5. The Numeracy tests have multiple choice questions and questions where you need to work out the answers. Which of the following is true? A. Multiple choice questions are easier than the questions where you need to work out the answer. B. You immediately know the answer for a multiple choice question and can answer them quickly. C.Most questions require you to do some working - use your blank piece of paper. D. You are not allowed to write on the questions. Not true! But the questions do get more difficult as you work through the test Not true! Most questions require working out – that is what the blank piece of paper is for. You can ask for more paper if you need it. Not true! You can write on the test paper. Circle or underline important information in the questions. © LearningYou

7 Q 6. There are 35 questions on the numeracy test. If your test starts at 9:00am about what time will it be when you are answering Question 18? (assuming you are answering the questions in order) A. 9: 18 am B. 9:25 am C. 9:35 am D. 9:45 am The questions get harder as you work through the paper so you will need more time for the later questions. Your teacher will track time in 10 minute intervals on the board – you should do approximately 8 questions every 10 minutes. Make sure you answer every question. What is the question asking?
