1 FALL TRIP TO AMERICA Monday, September 28 Depart for the United States Depart from Germany for New York City-JFK International Airport. Arrive at JFK at 12:55 pm, from Air France Flight No. 12. After clearing Customs, transfer to your to and check your luggage. Then back out to visit Coney Island, Little Odessa and Brooklyn Bridge. Hotel: Q4 Hotel, 29-09 Queens Plaza North, Long Island City, NY 11101 | Phone: 718-706-7700 Tuesday, September 29 New York City Wake up in the morning and have breakfast. Then travel to the Staten Island Ferry for a close up look at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Walk from the waterfront up to the 911 Memorial and continue from there to Wall Street and Chinatown and Little Italy. Wednesday, September 30 New York City Wake up in the morning and have breakfast. Then visit the Museum of Moving Images at 11 am for a behind the scenes look at the world of movies and television. Your next stop is Manhattan where the excitement lives. Start in Central Park, and walk past shops and famous sites (Empire State Building, Times Square, Broadway), and observe the rhythm of the city. Thursday, October 1 New York City/Transfer to Virginia Wake up early and have breakfast, and pack your suitcases. Meet your bus at noon to transfer to Virginia. Arrive at the meeting point where your host families will be waiting at 6:00 pm. Friday, October 2 School Visit Day Spend today shadowing your host brother or sister around from class to class to see what life is like in an American high school. Saturday, October 3 & Sunday, October 4 Free Days with Host Families Monday, October 5 Jamestown, Virginia Journey back in time to the first settlement in Virginia known as Jamestown. You’ll explore a recreated village where the Indians and first Europeans lived and learn about life in the 1700s with the help of costumed guides and history presenters. Stop for an early dinner on the way back to your host community where you will arrive at 8:00 pm. Tuesday, October 6 Washington, DC Visit Arlington Cemetery, the burial place of America’s war heroes before walking across Memorial Bridge to the Lincoln, Korean and Vietnam Memorials. Return to your host community at 6:30 pm. Note: Drive to Reston-Wiehle Road MetroRail Station to park. Take MetroRail train to Arlington Cemetery Station.

2 FALL TRIP TO AMERICA Wednesday, October 7 Washington, DC No visit would be complete without stopping by the famous Smithsonian Museums. Begin with a visit to the most popular of them all – the Air & Space Museum – to learn about the history of aviation and space flight. Stop next at the Museum of American History to see collections from America’s past before returning to host families at 6:30 pm in the evening. Note: Drive to Reston-Wiehle Road MetroRail Station to park. Take MetroRail to Smithsonian Station. Thursday, October 8 Washington, DC Start today with a 10:20 am visit to the U.S. Capitol to tour the place where Congress works. Break for lunch before going to your 1:30 pm session at the Newseum where you will construct a newspaper filled with important events that you create. Finish with a walk to the White House for a photo before returning to your host community. Note: Drive to Reston- Wiehle Road MetroRail Station to park. Take MetroRail train to Union Station. Friday, October 9 School Visit Day Spend today shadowing your host brother or sister around from class to class. Saturday, October 10 - Monday, October 12 Free Days with Host Families Enjoy the long Columbus Day weekend with your host families. Tuesday, October 13 Luray, Virginia Take a ride out to the country to experience one of the nation’s most impressive underground adventures – Luray Caverns. Explore the underground caves, and geological treasures as well as car museum and corn maze. Return to your host families at 6:30 pm. Wednesday, October 14 Baltimore, Maryland Travel to a U.S. city known for its blue-collar roots. At 11 am, visit the Museum of Industry to learn about the work history of Baltimore. Break for lunch before a 2 pm tour of Camden Yards where the professional baseball team plays. Return to your host families at 6:30 pm. Thursday, October 15 Plantation & Fairy House Project/Depart for Germany Enjoy one last outing before your flight with a visit to Oatlands Plantation. Beginning at 10 am, tour the historic mansion and gardens and one room school house. Make a miniature fairy house to take home and enjoy a picnic lunch. Return to the school at 3:45 pm and then to your host families to pack your suitcases for your return trip home. Then in the afternoon, head to the airport for your return flight to Germany. Flight departs at 9:30 pm on Air France, Flight No. 27. NOTE: Host families have students at the airport at 6:30 pm for their flight. Thanks!
