Dear Families, The beginning of school is an exciting time for all children; especially those entering Kindergarten. With so many new adventures awaiting both you and your child I have prepared this packet to assist you in understanding the daily routines and procedures in my classroom and for your convenience I will keep a copy of it on my webpage. I look forward to a wonderful year! Adrienne Landgrave alandgrave@sd113a.org 630/257-2286 ext. 1333

Kindergarten Class Times AM 8:45 – 11:15 doors open at 8:30 PM 12:50 – 3:15 doors open at 12:30 Bus Transportation /Lanyards School District 113a uses a number system to identify bus routes. Bus numbers are displayed on each bus to represent the route so it is important that your child is able to recognize his/her bus number. Children will wear lanyards labeled with their bus number making it easy for teachers to place students in the correct bus lines at the end of the school day. Please make sure your child wears the lanyard each day until I let you know otherwise. Car Riders and Walkers/Lanyards These students will also wear lanyards so teachers can place them in the correct place at the end of the school day. Again, please make sure your child wears the lanyard each day until I let you know otherwise.

Any changes in transportation home need to be provided IN WRITING. Without written instruction from you I will send your child in the usual manner – verbal directions from your child or a sibling cannot be accepted. If you have forgotten to provide a note or your plans change after the school day has begun please contact the office and they will inform me of the change.

Reporting Academic Progress Ongoing assessment is an important component of the kindergarten curriculum. This allows me to show you how your child is progressing socially and academically. Report cards for Kindergarteners will be given once each trimester. In addition, we will be having parent teacher conferences in November. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns throughout the year.

Music –Kindergarten students will attend music class once each week. Library – the children will visit the library each week where they will have the opportunity to check out one book. It is important that books are returned each week so your child can check out a new one. Physical Activity – movement breaks that may include action songs, games, and yoga will be held each day in the classroom.

Homework Each week I will be sending home both math and literacy homework. Homework is meant not only give your child additional practice but will also afford you the opportunity to see what we are doing in class. Homework can be returned anytime during the week. You are also encouraged to practice skills at home that have been taught in class; Sight words, letters and sounds, math skills, etc… All of the material the students have been exposed to will be listed on the Weekly Newsletter.
