2 Goal: Reduce the HIV transmission in the country Indicators (2): Percentage of young women and men aged 15 to 24 who are HIV infected Percentage of infants born to HIV positive mothers who are HIV infected

3 HIV/AIDS BI-ANNUAL REVIEW 2008 Sub-theme 1 Promotion of abstinence, delayed sexual debut, partner reduction and consistent condom use among young people in and out of school

4 Sub-theme 1 → Indicators (3): Percentage of Schools that provided life-skills based HIV education in the last academic year (UNGASS 11) Young women and men who have had sexual intercourse with more than one partner in the last 12 months

7 Sub-theme 1→ Indicators: Percentage of Young men and women (15-24) who have had sexual intercourse before the age of 15 (Universal Access) Young men and women (15-24) who have had sexual intercourse before the age of 15 reduced from 9.5% and 10.6% in 2003/4 to 7% in 2012 (F 11%, M10%)

8 Sub-theme 1 → Indicators: Percentage of Women and men aged 15–49 who had more than one sexual partner in the past 12 months reporting the use of a condom during their last sexual intercourse.

9 Sub-theme 2 → Reduction of risk of HIV infection among the most vulnerable populations → Indicators/Targets: Percentage of Women who feel that a wife is justified to propose condom use if she knows that her husband has an STI Women have increased from 75% in 2005 (TDHS) to 85% in 2012

10 Sub-theme 2 Reduction of risk of HIV infection among the most vulnerable populations Cont Indicators: Percentage of Injecting drug users reporting the use of sterile needles and syringes the last time they injected (UNGASS )

11 Sub-theme 4: → Prevention, treatment and control of other STIs → Indicators and Target # of STI patients per 100 000 population % of patients with STI at health care facilities who are appropriately diagnosed, treated and counseled

12 Sub-theme 4: Prevention, treatment and control of other STIs Indicators and Target # of patients with STIs who are appropriately diagnosed, treated and counseled increased from 67% in 2005 (NACP) to 75% in 2012

13 Sub-theme 6 Prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV Indicators and Target % of HIV-positive pregnant women who received antiretrovirals to reduce the risk of mother to child transmission % of HIV-positive pregnant women who received antiretrovirals to reduce the risk of mother to child transmission increased from 12% in 2006 to 96% in 2012.

14 Sub-theme 7: → Promotion and distribution of condoms → % of women and men aged 15 to 49 who had more than one sexual partner in the past 12 months reporting the use of a condom during their last sexual intercourse.

15 Sub-theme 7: → Promotion and distribution of condoms → % of women and men aged 15–49 who had more than one sexual partner in the past 12 months reporting the use of a condom during their last sexual intercourse has increased from 38.0%F and 49.7%M in 2003/4 to 45%F and 55% M by 2012.

16 Sub-theme 7: → Promotion and distribution of condoms → Indicator: # of male and female condoms distributed to end users in the last 12 months (Universal Access) Target: Number of male and female condoms distributed to end users in the past 12 months increased from 158 million (M)/ 776,000 (F) in 2006 to 250 million (M)/1.5 million (F) in 2012.

17 Sub-theme 7: Promotion and distribution of condoms → Indicator: Policy changes to allow condoms in prisons in place by 2012

18 Sub-theme 8: Prevention of HIV transmission through blood transfusion, exposure to contaminated body fluids and contaminated instruments Indicator Percentage of blood units screened for HIV in a quality assured manner (UNGASS)

19 Sub-theme 9 Introduction of new prevention interventions Indicator: Proportional of male children and youth circumcised

20 Sub-theme 3 Expansion of workplace interventions, with special attention for mobile and migrant workers Indicator: Percentage of large workplaces (public and private) that have HIV prevention and care policies and programs

21 Sub-theme 5: Promotion and expansion of HIV testing and counseling services Indicator: Percentage of women and men aged 15-49 who received an HIV test in the last 12 months and know the results Indicator: Number of testing and counseling sites per district population

22 Sub-theme 5: Promotion and expansion of HIV testing and counseling services Target: Target: Percentage of women and men aged 15 to 49 who received an HIV test in the last 12 months and know the results increased from 7% in 2006 (TDHS) to 12% in 2012
