Food chain and food webs
Producers? an organism, that is able to produce its own food
Consumers? an organism, within a community that feeds upon plants or other animals
Decomposers? An organism, often a bacterium or fungus, that feeds on and breaks down dead plant or animal
Food chain The movement of energy though an ecosystem in an environment A food chain ALWAYS starts with the sun! Arrows represent the energy that is being given off
Food web Where many kinds of living things in a community get the food they need to survive. A food web is different food chains that help balance the ecosystem
Energy flow in Ecosystems
~Ecology Notes~. 1. Sun 2. Autotrophs 3. Heterotrophs 4. Decomposers ENERGY IS NOT RECYCLED!!!!
1 st 6 Weeks Vocab Review Food Chain and Food Webs.
TEKS 5.9B: Describe how the flow of energy derived from the Sun, used by producers to create their own food, is transferred through a food chain and food.
What is Energy?. Energy is the capacity for action/doing work.
How is an organism’s energy role determined in an ecosystem?
an organism that makes its own food an organism that eats other living things to get energy.
4 th Grade SAL1: Students will describe the roles of organisms and the flow of energy within an ecosystem.
Energy Flow in the Ecosystem. Food chain – shows which organisms each which in an ecosystem.
Food Chains and Food Webs
FOOD CHAINS AND FOOD WEBS. Break down dead plants and animals Bacteria and fungi are two examples Reduces dead organisms to simpler forms of matter Returns.
Who’s Who in a Food Chain?
Energy Flows Through Ecosystems Sun: Makes all energy on Earth. Producers: Make their own food. Consumers: Get their food by eating other organisms. Decomposers:
9/18/14 Objective: How do living things get their energy? Do Now:
Ecosystems and Food Chains An ecosystem is all the living and nonliving things in an area, in relation to their environment.
Energy Transfer All living things need energy to survive.
Food webs model interactions within the community.
Energy Flow in an Ecosystem. Autotrophs: organisms that manufacture their own nutrients using stored energy or energy from the sun –Examples? Heterotrophs:
The Marine Biome Marine Food Chains. Biodiversity The variety of living things in a particular area.
What is a Food Web?.
