Data in the Classroom 1. Select at least 3 variables appropriate to your research topic. Do the selected independent and dependent variables make sense? 2. Specify the levels of measurement. 3. Run frequencies. 4. Run RECODE. Have you recategorized (recoded) the codes appropriately? 5. Run CROSSTABS. You need to produce at least two cross-tabulations. Have you selected the appropriate measure of association (which depends on the level of measurement of the variables?) Use percentages. 6. Analyze the data (x-square with a df of.05 and.01) The handed-in exercise should include a printrun of the RECODE and crosstabs and a text, in which you explain why you have recoded the way you have, and why you selected the measures of association. The printrun should not include the frequency run. Please cite the source of your data properly and place the tables at the end of your essay.
