Recent Events in Science Total Solar Eclipse This Week: How to Pack for Eclipse- Chasing Adventures http://www.space.com/18431-total- solar-eclipse-2012-expedition- tips.html Read All About It! After a gap of more than two years, a total eclipse of the sun will be visible this week from northeastern Australia. Residents and visitors in Cairns in Queensland will see the moon completely cover the sun for two minutes in the eastern sky shortly after local sunrise. Australia's total solar eclipse this week will occur at sunrise on Wednesday, Nov. 14 local time, though it will still be Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 13) for observers in North America tracking the event through webcasts.

Announcement for 4th Period Only Since school started last August, I have made many requests for a more orderly, learning-centered environment in this classroom. We continue to have issues with orderly conduct in this class. Yesterday, some students were trying to work out the scale for our Lab on the Geologic Time Scale, while other students were making so much noise it became extremely hard to concentrate. This is not the first incidence of this type of disturbance affecting productivity. This, therefore, is my final request for peace and order in 4 th period ESS. Further ignoring of this request will result in undesirable consequences. Please ask now if you have questions, otherwise I will assume that everyone understands and plans to comply with this request.

The Geologic Time Scale Geologic time is divided into Eons. 1.the Hadean Eon – NOTE: We will not put this Eon on our Geologic Time Scale Lab 2.the Precambrian Eon the Achaean Eon the Proterozoic Eon 3.the Phanerozoic Eon

The Geologic Time Scale Eons are further divided into Eras. 1.Archean Eon Eoarchean Era Paleoarchean Era Mesoarchean Era Neoarchean Era 2.Proterozoic Eon Paleoproterozoic Era Mesoproterozoic Era Neoproterozoic Era 3.Phanerozoic Eon Paleozoic Era Mesozoic Era Cenozoic Era

The Geologic Time Scale The Phanerozoic Eon is further divided into Periods. Phanerozoic Eon Paleozoic Era Cambrian Period Ordovician Period Silurian Period Devonian Period Carboniferous Mississippian Period Carboniferous Pennsylvanian Period Permian Period Mesozoic Era Triassic Period Jurassic Period Cretaceous Period Cenozoic Era Tertiary Period Quaternary Period

The Geologic Time Scale The Cenozoic Era is further divided into Epochs. Cenozoic Era Tertiary Period Paleocene Epoch Eocene Epoch Oligocene Epoch Miocene Epoch Pliocene Epoch Quaternary Period Pleistocene Epoch Holocene Epoch
