Today, our focus is on helping achieve the goal of 55% of Americans holding postsecondary degrees by 2025. Serving the Education Community We are a membership organization of almost 6,000 colleges, universities and schools, an increase of approximately 2,250 members. COLLEGE BOARD PROPRIETARY INFORMATION Source: enGauge 21st Century Skills: Literacy in the Digital Age The SAT ® & 21st-Century Skills The SAT tests the skills needed to succeed in 21st-century academic and work environments: Digital-Age Literacy: Critical reading and writing sections explore many of the concepts encompassed by basic and information literacy. Inventive Thinking: Both the SAT mathematics and critical reading sections focus on sound reasoning and the ability to manage complexity. High Productivity: The writing section emphasizes prioritization, planning and the ability to produce relevant, high-quality work within a specific time period.

COLLEGE BOARD PROPRIETARY INFORMATION The skills required for career success are the same as those required for college success The SAT tests the skills needed to succeed in 21st century academic and work environments SAT: Assesses students’ ability to think critically, solve real world problems and communicate effectively Tests students’ ability to apply knowledge learned in core subjects to multiple situations Requires students to communicate ideas clearly and effectively which is a skill that is critical for college and career readiness “In short, college courses require students not just to know something, but to be able to do something with what they know” - David T. COLLEGE BOARD PROPRIETARY INFORMATION The SAT is strongly aligned with Idaho Content Standards as well as the Common Core State Standards The SAT: A Valid, Fair, Robust Predictor of College Success The SAT is an excellent predictor of many different measures of college success, including: Freshman year grades Sophomore and Junior year grades Retention

COLLEGE BOARD PROPRIETARY INFORMATION Why It Works For Students Eliminates barriers: Financial: The cost to the student is removed Time/availability: Testing on a weekday does not interfere with work or family obligations scheduled on the weekend Transportation/location: Students no longer have to worry about transportation or trying to locate the testing site because they test in their own school Comfort: Less worry about travel and cost, plus being in familiar surroundings may reduce the traditional anxiety that goes along with testing

COLLEGE BOARD PROPRIETARY INFORMATION SAT ® School Day – an Overview All high schools designated by the State will be established as certified SAT Test Centers The school-day administration will be conducted under normal test administration and security protocols and will result in scores that are fully reportable to colleges for admissions purposes All necessary training will be provided to State personnel who will act as test center supervisors and manage the test administration College Board will provide materials and training to the State for collecting student registrations; this may be a paper-based system or an electronic data transfer depending on the details of the implementation plan Student score data will be reported to students and high schools per standard SAT reporting processes. In addition, enhanced state reporting will provide student-level data, aggregated at the school and district level Accommodations for Students with Disabilities will be provided according to standard eligibility and administrative processes
