1 CASCA 2014 Treasurer’s Report for fiscal 2013

2 Financial Highlights 2013 Membership revenue of $33,308 ($34,155 for 2012) remained consistent with the prior year. Higher conference registrations of $36,385 (22,639 for 2012) for CASCA2013 produced conference proceeds from the LOC of $11,639. Good initial success with Anthropologica’s transition to UTP, costs in line with budget. Anthropologica revenue decreased slightly to $49,692 ($55,863 for 2012). Expenses also decreased to $39,599 ($43,653 for 2012). Increased Salisbury award by $500 to $2000 Gave out 9 student travel bursaries and increased budget by $500.00 over prior year to $3000.00

3 Balance Sheet Highlights CASCA is in good financial health with Net Assets of $214,139 – Cash of $39,411 – Short term investments of 51,758 – Restricted asset (Salisbury) of $46,340 – Accounts receivable of $11,286 – Recoverable HST of $3,625 – Prepaids (insurance and advances) 2,819 – Current accounts payable and deferred revenue of $30,401 – CASCA has no debt

6 Unrestricted GIC Investments CASCA holds three (3) non-redeemable GICs with interest and one flexible GIC with interest:

7 Restricted Investments – Salisbury CASCA holds one restricted investment with interest. The investment was recorded as an asset of $46,340 (2012, $44,593). The investment renewed in September 2013, as follows:

8 Salisbury Fund Revenue and Expense During fiscal 2013 the Salisbury award amount increased by $500.00 per year to $2,000.00 per annual recipient.

9 Women’s Network CASCA members continue to support the WN, doubling the donations made during the prior year.

10 SSHRC – Anthropologica In 2012, Anthropologica received a 3 year award for $76,200. The award is paid out as follows: – 2012$25,400 (as per financials with $3k carry over from fiscal 2011 grant) – 2013$25,400 (included in budget) – 2014$25,400 (included in budget) Renewal application due June 1, 2014 (prepared by EIC, UTP and Treasurer)

11 Student Travel Bursary During fiscal 2013, CASCA awarded 9 student travel bursaries for an aggregate total of $3,000. For 2014, CASCA awarded 11 bursaries for an aggregate total of $3,190.
