UMVIM LEADER TRAINING October 10, 2015 8:30am – 2:30pm Twin Falls/Magic Valley Details TBD

2 UMVIM and Disaster Response Training Options: The Oregon-Idaho Conference has various training options for those interested in mission and/or disaster response through the Methodist Church: Basic ERT Training (8 hours) Participants learn the basics of disaster response, including how to stabilize and secure homes safely, and how to work effectively with survivors and others on the response team. This standardized class is required for the basic ERT UMCOR identification badge. ERT Advanced Training (2 hours each segment) These include detailed Site Assessment, ERT Team Leadership, and On-Site Management. Two of these together satisfy the recertification requirement required of ERTs every 3 years. Spiritual and Emotional Care for ERT and UMVIM Teams Part of providing a caring Christian presence is listening and responding appropriately to survivor stories. This class gives you additional tools to provide that presence for disaster survivors in the context of an ERT or other disaster response team. Connecting Neighbors Like ERT Basic, this class provides a foundation in disaster response but is focused on establishing the connections to connect your local church to serving within its own community in time of disaster. UMVIM Team Leader Training Effective team leadership is critical to the success of any UMVIM team, whether it be a disaster response team or some other team. This class prepares leaders to be effective in planning and equipping their teams for UMVIM mission work. This class will discuss the latest OR-ID team policies and the best practices for team formation, planning, training, and logistics. For more information on any of these classes, including scheduling in your area, please contact: Disaster Response Coordinator: Dan Moseler at djmoseler@gmail.comdjmoseler@gmail.com UMVIM/ERT Coordinator: Becky Platt at ORIDUMVIM@gmail.comORIDUMVIM@gmail.com
