The Seeking Sinner The Seeking Sinner vs 1-4 His prominence –A man of Position: a tax collector –A man of Possessions –A man of Power –Many people fit this description… having a sense of freedom and control a lost person is nothing, without Jesus Christ –Jn 15:5; 2 Cor 3:5; 1 Cor 15:10 we all need Jesus to be sure we have something –Mk 8:36-37
The Seeking Sinner The Seeking Sinner vs 1-4 His preoccupation –Most try to fill this void with something else His desire – Mt 6:33; Ps 63:1-3; Col 3:1-3 His desperate need – Act 4:12; 1 Tim 2:5-6 –No one or nothing else can save your soul His Problem –The crowd – Mt 10:37 –His condition – Isa 59:2; Rom 3:23 His persistence – Mk 10:17-22
The Seeking Savior The Seeking Savior vs 5 Jesus came to him –Jesus comes to the dead sinner and offers life Jn 6:44; Jn 6:65 –We are dead in sin until Jesus saves us Rom 3:23; Rom 6:23; Eph 2:1-4 Jesus considered him –God sees the true state of our hearts Jer 17:9-10; Rev 2:18-23; 1 Sam 16:7
The Seeking Savior The Seeking Savior vs 5 Jesus called him –The Lord may come 1 Thes 5:1-4; 2 Pet 3:10-15 –Death may come James 4:14
The Spectacular Salvation The Spectacular Salvation vs 6-10 Zacchaeus received the Savior –His salvation is revealed in 3 things he did Obedience Opened heartedness – Rev 3:20 Displayed obvious joy – 1 Jn 2:15-17 Zacchaeus repented of his sins – 2 Cor 5:17 He was redeemed with a great salvation –The mercy of Christ –The mission of Christ Jn 3:17; Lk 9:56; Jn 10:10
