A Roaring Lion Judges 14: 5-9
1. The Journey - Samson journeyed from Zorah to Timnah, a distance of about 10 miles. The journey of life is also brief and we do it but once. Psalm 39:5 – Indeed, You have my days as handbreadths, and my age is nothing before You: Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor.
2. The Lion in the way- The presents a serious challenge and immediate threat. Not only to his body but his soul as well. Like a lion threats are sudden and lying in wait. Luke 4:5 Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
3. The Conflict- Samson had three choices in his conflict: 1.Run,which possibly would have been certain death. 2. Not resist, which would not be in his best favor. 3. Fight, which he chose to do with help of God. A.Ephesians 6:10-13 B. James4:7 C. 1Timothy 6:12 D. 1Corinthians 10:13 -The Lord always provides a way of escape.
4. The Reward- (vs.8) Samson was in a sense rewarded when he returned to the kill site he found the lion carcass full of honey. He ate the honey and shared with his parents but not reveal its source. God will always reward the faithful. God rewards us daily. Sit down sometime and try and count all your blessings ! God has a reward at judgment. Revelation 2:7 A crown of life. Revelation 3:21 A Throne. John 14:2-3 A Mansion. 1John 5:11 God give us eternal life.
