1 God’s Foolishness Vs Man’s Wisdom

2 I Cor 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. Wisdom of men? That’s a lot of wisdom. Man has grown so much wiser. Why even in the 74 years that I have been on this earth I have seen: Indoor plumbing --- Don’t laugh there are still places in America where it does not exist. Automobiles that were so crude they could barely keep you in the dry. They did good to move along at 35 to 40 MPH. Farmers change from using mules and horses and even oxen to gasoline powered tractors. Kerosene lamps to electricity Telephones one in the community to cell phones Navigation on the earth from dead reckoning and by the Stars to GPS devices that can tell you where you are down to a matter of inches, and they fit in your pocket. Plant seed that have been engineered to such sophistication That they have plant characteristics that make them immune from certain insects. They have been engineered so that a herbicide that literally kills everything green will not effect them. * They are so expensive that farmers do not buy them by the pound or by the bag, they buy them by the each. That’s right by the each. They are so expensive that farmers pay to have very expensive machinery plant them. These planters use GPS to space the seeds at precise intervals.

3 I Cor 1:25 That is only 6 of the hundreds of things that have happened in my lifetime. I HAVEN’T EVEN MENTIONED MEDICAL THINGS. WHAT ABOUT TRAVEL? When Moses received the Law the children of Israel were instructed that they could only travel as far as they could walk on the Sabbath day. That was a Sabbath days journey. How far can man literally travel using todays transportation? Space travel hundreds of thousands of miles in a day about 600,000 if you calculate it at 25,000 MPH for 24 hours. When do men born today acquire all of this wisdom? When did we get it? From moment of birth we begin to learn all of these wonderful things. Cry and you get fed. Cry and they change your messy clothes. Point and they give it to you. Fall down and they pick you up. Learn to walk and talk and they send you to school. Your told how smart men are, what wonderful things they can do, how powerful men are, we are without equal, we are the most intelligent creatures in all the universe. We can do most anything we set our mind to do. We trust our learning, our skills, our very existence to our own ability to accomplish what we want to do. What a great thing, we need nothing! We have it all! Then we see the results of the “grim reaper” DEATH. It happens to everyone of us who have walked or that walks upon this earth. If we are so perfect, where did death come from? Why do we die? Interesting questions. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

4 I Cor 1:25 Someone places a Bible in our hands and tells us, Your answer about death is recorded for you in God’s word. Hello what is this about God? I haven’t been told about God in all of my schooling. Seems like I heard about some silly theory about all of these scientific wonders were created by some intelligent design. Is this what you are talking about? Yes it is. OK fine tell me about God. What makes you think the Bible is so knowledgeable about God and the things we can see and feel and experience? Well we give evidences from the Bible. God made man from the dust of the earth. Gen 2:7 … of the dust of the ground… When man dies he turns back to dust, scientific fact. God created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them in six days and on the seventh day God rested. Gen 2:1 – 7 Scientific fact: A day consists of a period of light and a period of darkness, there are seven of these days in a week and 4.3 weeks constitute a month, and 12 months constitute a year and in a year the earth circles the sun one complete time. God set this up and man cannot change it. God created the paths in the sea and told man about them. Isa 43:16 Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea And a path through the mighty waters, Scientific fact: a man read in the Bible that there were paths in the sea and set out to find them. He did and a statue is erected to him on the campus of the Naval Academy. God told Job in the book of Job 26:7 He stretches out the north over empty space; [He] hangs the earth on nothing. Scientific fact: Astronomers know that there is a “hole” in the North and there is nothing in it as far as the most powerful telescopes can see. Job wrote this hundreds yea thousands of years before a telescope was invented. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

5 I Cor 1:25 That is four powerful evidences that God is the creator and because He was the creator He was there when the earth was created and the Bible is attesting to what God saw as wittness to His own creation. Now you have recorded for you, the accounts of some of the evidences that God was creator, thus a witness of what He created in the beginning. Hundreds more could be given but time does not permit. What else does God witness for us? Gen 3 Man was tempted by Satan and man fell from God’s good grace. Because man sinned, God drove man from the garden that God had provided for him and man was told that he must work and earn his food by the sweat of his face. Scientific fact: All through recorded scientific history man has worked to feed and clothe himself. Gods word the Bible tells us that mankind became so wicked after the sin of man that God was sorry he made man and would destroy man and every creature that breathed. Gen 6:6 – 8 but Noah found favor with God and God had Noah build an ark and so that Noah and his wife and children could be saved along with a set number of the animals and birds of the air. God sent a flood upon the earth and all mankind, animals, and birds were destroyed except eight souls and the animals and birds that God preserved in the ark. Scientific fact: There are great evidences of a flood that covered the entire earth just as God’s word tells us. God had a plan that would redeem man back to God. The Bible tells us of that plan. That price to redeem us was God sending His only begotten son to die as a sacrifice for our sins so that by obeying the words of Jesus we might have forgiveness of sins. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

6 God’s Plan was for His Son to Die for Me?
Hold it! Hold it! God sent His son to die. A sacrifice for my sin? That’s right. The Bible, God’s word tells us this. Heb 9:26 …He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, 28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. That’s Foolishness Might seem foolish but God says Isah 55:9 "For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. THAT’S FOOLISHNESS!

7 God’s Plan was for His Son to Die for Me?
Might seem foolish but God says Isah 55:9 "For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. Then again in I Cor 1:25 THAT’S FOOLISHNESS Isaiah 55:99 "For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

8 God’s Plan was for His Son to Die for Me?
Might seem foolish but God said it and God cannot lie Titus 1:1 Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness, 2 in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began, 3 but has in due time manifested His word through preaching, Then again in I Cor 1:25 I Cor 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. Paul also as one who reveals and writes down God’s word said in I Cor 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent." 20 Where [is] the wise? Where [is] the scribe? Where [is] the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? What is this message of the cross? The Good News? I Cor 15:3 & 4 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, THAT’S FOOLISHNESS I Cor 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. I Cor 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent." 20 Where [is] the wise? Where [is] the scribe? Where [is] the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

9 God’s Plan was for His Son to Die for Me?
THAT’S FOOLISHNESS I Cor 15:3 & 4 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, What is this message of the cross? The Good News? I Cor 15:3 & 4 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

10 God’s Plan was for His Son to Die for Me?
What did Jesus say when He was telling men how and what would save them? Believes John 6:40 "And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day." Baptized Mark 15:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned THAT’S FOOLISHNESS Jesus said John 6:40 "And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day." Mark 15:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned

11 God’s Plan was for His Son to Die for Me?
THAT’S FOOLISHNESS Jesus said Repent Luke 13:3 & 5 “I tell you no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Confess Mt 10:32 Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven "But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. Jesus tell His listeners to Repent Jesus tells His listeners to Confess Jesus tells His listeners to Believe Jesus tells His listeners to be Baptized To the person of today who has been told that man came by evolution. To be told that the Bible is a myth. To be told that God does not exist. Then indeed preaching the good news of Jesus Christ God’s son is foolishness. Be ready to defend your faith and to proclaim it to people who desperately need it.
