3 COMMUNICATION. The ENP website is there to communicate dates and other information on all parts of the programme. New information headed on the Homepage. Written report sent home in June. www.enpferney.org Individual parents evening in January.

4 The CM1 Team * Plan together. * Classroom helpers. * All CM1 classes have access to interactive white boards.

5 Text Books and Spellings Collins 6 textbook. Nelson 2 and 3 spelling books. Spelling exercises should be done but don't need to be shown to the teacher. Spelling corrections should be written out 3 times each. www.bigiqkids.com

6 Structure of ENP afternoons 1.50-3.00 lesson 3.00-3.15 break 3.15-4.35 lesson.

7 Seating arrangements: ­ Usually in groups: - ability groups for use of level appropriate materials as well as adult support or extension. - mixed ability groups for peer support and reinforcement.  Groups change depending on the task.

9 Units of Work: Class reader: Danny Champion of the World Recounts Poetry Cautionary Tales Script writing Myths and Legends Persuasive writing (advertisements, speeches, bias)

10 Homework Homework must be completed each week - approximately 2 hours in total. This will usually include: A written task. Spellings. Reading a library book on a regular basis - daily if possible.

11 How to help your child Break homework down so it is done in manageable chunks. Model and plan for writing by talking - discuss the task to be done. Offer best conditions in which to do h/w. Maximise opportunities for exposure to English. Encourage and model reading. Praise.

12 Dates for the calendar this year:  P arents' evening - January.  CM1 performance- Feb/March. Here's to a fun and productive year ahead! And that's CM1.
