Thank you for coming to Samsbiblestories.com and for taking a look at the lessons I have added. These lessons are the result of years of teaching Sunday school at an Elementary level. God has richly blessed me in being able to share His Word with thousands of young people. It is now my privilege to share them with you. Please feel free to use them with your class, wherever God has planted you. The only think I ask is that you drop me a line and let me know who you are and how the lessons are working for you. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. samueldselby@gmail God Bless you, Sam God Bless

Walk Like a Peacemaker (Isaac’s wells) Genesis 26 Volunteers needed: Isaac, Rebekah and their family.

Walk Like a Peacemaker (Isaac’s wells) Genesis 26 Today, our story takes place all the way back in the book of Genesis. Life was a lot different back then than it is for us today… Here are some ways our lives are different now.

Walk Like a Peacemaker (Isaac’s wells) Genesis 26 Housing

Walk Like a Peacemaker (Isaac’s wells) Genesis 26 Transportation

Walk Like a Peacemaker (Isaac’s wells) Genesis 26 Dress

Walk Like a Peacemaker (Isaac’s wells) Genesis 26 Food But there was one thing they needed back in Bible times that is the same as it is today, can you guess what it is?

Walk Like a Peacemaker (Isaac’s wells) Genesis 26 How we get water has changed however… A water well was one of the most important things in the lives of people back in the time of the Bible, especially in the Old Testament.

Walk Like a Peacemaker (Isaac’s wells) Genesis 26 In our story today from Genesis, we meet our main character, Isaac. Can anyone remember who Isaac’s father was? ABRAHAM There was a very bad famine in the land. Who can tell us what a famine is?

Walk Like a Peacemaker (Isaac’s wells) Genesis 26 The Bible says that God’s blessing was on Isaac and his family. That meant God promised to take care of them. So, even though there was a famine in nearby lands, when Isaac went out and worked his land in Gerar, God made sure that everything that Isaac planted grew. And Grew, and Grew, and Grew and Grew ! until he was a very wealthy man.

Walk Like a Peacemaker (Isaac’s wells) Genesis 26 Now, when the other people saw this, they got jealous. So they did something terrible—something awful. They did something mean to Isaac. WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY DID TO ISAAC? The Bible says they poured dirt down into all of Isaac’s wells so they wouldn’t have water in them anymore. Now Isaac’s family had no water—nothing to bathe with, clean with, cook with, or drink. What do you think Isaac should do?

Walk Like a Peacemaker (Isaac’s wells) Genesis 26 Isaac understood that it was more important to care about others than to start a fight. So instead of pitching a fit and starting a water war, Isaac proved he cared about others by walking away from a fight. He kept the peace, and he moved. 17 So Isaac moved away from there and encamped in the Valley of Gerar, where he settled. 19 Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there.

Walk Like a Peacemaker (Isaac’s wells) Genesis 26 He named it (the well) Rehoboth, saying, “Now the L ORD has given us room and we will flourish in the land.” The people who lived in the land told Isaac that this was their well, so rather than fight, he dug a second and then a third well. Finally he had a well that was his and he did not have to fight and have some of his family die because of it. And God continued to bless Isaac because he was a man of peace and he became a very wealthy and powerful man.
