TED TALK PRESENTS: By: Joel Zapata And Dean Loessberg

What is a subliminal message?  It’s a picture embedded in a logo or any type of media to entice people to buy or do something.  Advertisers use them to attract shoppers and tell there friends and family about their product

First subliminal message  The first subliminal message appeared or originated in 1957 with James Vicary an advertising promoter who increased his popcorn sales by 58% And the coke sales by 18% by flashing messages in a new jersey movie saying eat popcorn and drink soda and that when the subliminal messages started.

Are subliminal messages bad? They’re not really bad. Depending on how the advertisers use them is up to them but it’s also up to us to determine whether or not we need or want that product. Some messages are innocent like the Amazon logo with the arrow pointing from A to Z. referencing that they will have every product you could ever need from A to Z

Some subliminal messages can be humorous. Like if you turn the Dodge Viper logo upside-down it looks like Daffy Duck from Looney Tunes. Are subliminal messages bad?

People most known for the use of subliminal messages.  Bungie  Rockstar North  Infinity Ward  Irrational Games  Stanley Kuberick  Dr. Andrew Dobson

How do subliminal messages affect you?  The average person in America views hundreds of advertisements each day and over 90 percent of those ads have subliminal messages imbedded in them.  Most people don’t even know their there.

Will this continue to trick people? Most likely yes, most people that are not observant won’t notice the obvious when watching advertisements it will probably be an eternity before companies stop using subliminal messages.

Overreacting  Some people tend to confuse the a coincidence for a subliminal message and this tends to lead to controversy, because it may seem inappropriate so this leads to huge problems in mass media. But you’ll never know, in some cases it tends to happen on purpose (I'm talking about the subliminal message)

How to spot subliminal messages?  Look for hidden texts and pictures in the logo.

Did you find them? If you didn’t. Don’t feel bad. You actually did see it but on a subconscious level. Companies use your subconscious to influence your thoughts and actions to compel you to buy their product or service.

The subconscious the subconscious is the part of consciousness that you are not fully aware of. As shown by the iceberg much more happens in your subconscious than you actually think it does. The subconscious takes instructions from the conscious mind. It has one main purpose: to achieve the goals set by your conscious

Why? To put I words, it something people should think about. We know as of right know subliminal messages can influence a person’s thoughts, make a person buy something or do something in general. So… what if we use the knowledge of this topic or certain persuasion, to help people around the world it can be as simple as making a clever sign that says help cancer with a subliminal message which entices people to listen using their subconscious. This can either help the world or break it. If we use this certain thing correctly we can use this to help the world and it’s problems.
