13 An authorized Circulation operator can now change the due date on an item that has already been charged out. You will get a warning if you put in a date when the library is closed according to the circulation calendar. Pros: If you needed to extend a due date after you have left the charge screen and you didn’t want to renew you can use this function Controlled at the Operator Security Profile level in System Administration Cons: It does not change an item’s status. So if an item is already overdue, this cannot be used to fix the overdue status. It will just be overdue with a future due date. 5/1/2014 MODIFY DUE DATE FROM CHARGED ITEMS INDEX

15 The multitude of alerts that can display (lost statuses, temporary locations, patron has holds available, etc.) come preselected with the “OK” button highlighted. This feature allows you to eliminate the default – making the operator select an option before proceeding. Pros: This can eliminate the accidental removal of statuses, routing errors, etc. usually caused by inattention to discharge procedures. Cons: The functionality works great – however; it can only be implemented at an operator level in the session preferences. We’d like to see this as an option at a system level. 5/1/2014 DISABLING “SMART” DEFAULTS ON ALERT MESSAGES
