2 A = Angle of Rotation An angle of rotation is the degree of which a shape or design must be turned around the centre to look the same as before Ex: An equilateral triangle has an angle of rotation of 60 To find the Angle of rotation you must divide 360 by the Order of Rotation Ex. With a equilateral triangle (Order of Rotation = 3) 360/3=60

3 B = Binomial This year we learned about binomials.
A binomial is a expression in algebra with two terms Ex x3

4 C = Composite Object This year we learned that a composite object are two objects joined together When finding the surface area of a composite object, we must subtract the face of the object that is now hidden twice from the overall Surface Area Example of Composite Object

5 D = Degree of a term This year we learned that a degree of a term is the total sum of the exponents on variable in one term. To find this you must look for all the exponents, then add them up. A variable with no exponent has a degree of one.

6 E = Equilateral Triangles
This year we learned that all angles on equilateral triangles are 60 degrees We know this for all triangles add up to 180 degrees

7 F = Best “Friends” Share Dessert
Best friends share dessert is a way to help us remember the order of solving an equation. It can be thought of as BFSD. BFSD also stand for Brackets, Fractions, Sort then Divide Here is a link to a further explanation of BFSD share-desserts/

8 G = Circle Geometry This year one of our units was circle geometry
In this unit we studied different angles inside circles, such as supplementary, central, and inscribed We also learned how to discover angles and measurement using other angles and measurements Another thing we learned were lines of circles such as tangents and chords

9 H = Hypotenuse This year in circle geometry, we learned that hypotenuses tend to also be the radius, as long as one of the ends of they hypotenuse touches the centre point and part of the triangle is a chord. If there is a chord with a bisector running through the centre point, it is always possible to create a right triangle by creating a hypotenuse starting at the centre point to the edge of a chord.

10 I = Inscribed angles This year we learned about my favourite angle, the inscribed angle. It is an angle formed by two chords that on one side share a common endpoint We also learned about the crown rule, the crown rule states that inscribed angles with different endpoints that share the same arc will have the same degree

11 L = Linear Equation This year we learned that a linear equation is an equation of which when graphed creates a straight line Ex. Y = 2x+1

12 M = Monomial This year we learned about monomials, monomials are polynomials with only one term Ex. 2x

13 N = Double Negatives In a math question, if there are ever two minus symbols in a row, it becomes a plus symbol.

14 O = Order of Rotation This year we learned the order of rotation is how many times in a complete rotation the image looks identical to the original. For example, an equilateral triangle has an order of rotation of 3

15 P = Point of Rotation This year we learned that the point of rotation is the point of which the image is rotated around It is usually found on corners or the centre of images

16 Q = Power of a Quotient This year we learned that a power of a quotient is a division question in the form of a fraction with a exponent Power of quotients can be expanded.

17 R = Rotational Symmetry
This year we learned rotational symmetry A shape has rotational symmetry when it looks the same in less than one complete turn.

18 S = Sorting equations This year we learned that sorting equations is the most important step when solving equations. This step is when you add and subtract zero pairs from each side to isolate the variable This is a step of BFSD

19 T = Tangent A tangent line is a line in circle geometry where at one point the line touches the circumference

20 V = Variable This year we learned a lot about variables with equations
Variables can be any letter and they represent any number A common letter for a variable is X

21 W = When multiplying fractions
JUST DO IT! Multiply numerator by numerator and denominator by denominator

22 X = Isolating X This year we learned that the objective of solving equations is to isolate x. We can do this with BFSD

23 Y = Y axis This year we did a lot of graphing in the linear relations unit. Whenever there was a y variable, that point would be on the y axis

24 Z = Zero Pairs This year we learned that adding zero pairs is very useful in equations and inequalities By adding zero pairs you must add the same amount to each side of the equation or inequality
