2 RC-EAST Three female noncommissioned officers of the Afghan Uniform Police proudly display their diplomas after graduating from the AUP noncommissioned officer academy at Sharan Hall in Paktika province. Of a class of approximately 50 students, four females received their diplomas. Graduates completed a four-month course on leadership, other duties and responsibilities inherent to the role of a noncommissioned officer.

3 RC-EAST An Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier with the 201st Corps, is critiqued while performing a medical procedure during a medic training course at Forward Operating Base Gamberi, Laghman province. ANA soldiers performed hands on medical procedures on one another.

4 RC-EAST Provincial Governor Moheebullah Samim holds up his 2014 voter registration card. He and other provincial leaders registered to vote publically to demonstrate the security of the Sharan voter registration site in Paktika province. This act will encourage residents to participate in the upcoming free elections.

5 RC-EAST The Disarming Illegal Armed Groups (DIAG) Department of the Afghan Uniformed Police in Paktika Province held a weapons turn-in ceremony with provincial leaders, at the Provincial Government Complex in Sharan, Paktika Province. Pictured are weapons removed from the enemies of Afghanistan captured thus far in the spring offensive by the Afghan Local Police in Paktika. Paktika Provincial Governor Moheebullah Samim said he appreciates the efforts of ALP Commander Aziz and his officers.

6 RC-EAST Afghan National Army soldiers with the 201st Corps, disassemble an M249 light machine gun during a weapons training course at Forward Operating Base Gamberi, Laghman province. The soldiers in this course are trained how to assemble, disassemble and operate the M249.

7 CJSOTF-A A soldier from the Afghan National Army 4th Brigade 205th Corps demonstrates clearing an anti-personnel mine with a brush during the Explosive Hazard Reduction Course at the Multi National Base - Tarin Kot. This type of mine is designed to injure, not kill, victims in order to increase the logistical (mostly medical) support required by forces that encounter them.

8 CJSOTF-A A Female Engagement Team member, take notes during a key leader engagement in Qalat City, Zabul Province. KLEs are meetings between International Security Assistance Force professionals and selected public leaders to meet an end goal, which was improving conditions for women, in this case.
