6 What will it mean for our school and the Upper Eden? Funding, inspection and re-organisation will remain unchanged. We are still a Local Authority school Foundation status: admissions and employment co-operative ways of working: self-help and self-responsibility Community involvement and ownership of the trust The community is the pupils, staff, local stakeholders The membership of the Trust, through a forum, nominates Trustees and influences the direction of the Trust Land and buildings held on trust Organisational diagram Upper Eden Education Trust Raising standards and aspirations through partnership

7 What has happened so far? Upper Eden Education Trust Raising standards and aspirations through partnership Set up a charitable Trust. (4a) The local authority can refer the proposal to the Schools Adjudicator to decide but the referral must be made during the period for representations. 2) Consult with parents and local stakeholders. (5) Implementation 3) Publish statutory proposals and invite representations. 1) The school and its partner(s) agree to work together. (4) Consider representations and decide whether to acquire the Trust.

8 How do we go through the Process? The process will involve the simultaneous change to a Foundation School and the setting up of a Trust. Governors have considered the earlier consultation feedback and decided to go to the next stage of formally publishing statutory proposals and to invite representations. Governors have had several meetings with staff and stakeholders, and have assured all staff that their existing pay and conditions will remain unchanged. 9 Summary In establishing a charitable trust, the pupils of the school will benefit from the additional opportunities that partner organisations can provide: - raising aspirations - raising standards of achievement By working co-operatively the community can become members of the school with a stake in how it is run, and a say in what educational provision they would like for themselves.
