2 Seniors-Monday March 23 rd  Do you think that there is meaning or reason to be at one or at least respectful of nature? Why or why not? How can you do this? How do some people go against this?  Literary Terms: Rising Action, Satire, Simile, Soliloquy, Structure.  Vocabulary: eftsoons-immediately, kirk-church, aye-ever, clifts-icebergs, ken- knew, swound-swoon. THESE ARE OLD ENGLISH WORDS! They come from the literature book. 3 Juniors-Monday March 23 rd  The Quakers and Anabaptists believed strongly in the separation of church and state and fled from England and other countries to escape religious prosecution. Quakers believed that individuals had to wait for an inner light to become Christian and Anabaptist believed that adults had to choose to get baptized to become a Christian. 8 Seniors-Thursday March 26 th  How does our conscious help or hurt us? Does it do both? How so? In what ways do you see this in the poem?  DGP: mahua enjoys flying kites so we bought her a new ball of string  Capitalization and Punctuation  Today we will quiz using Ryan and Trey’s Super Cool Sentence game! Get into three groups of 5!  Rules: Roll the dice. Whichever two words you land on, you must come up with a sentence using both words. The person who rolls the dice has to be the judge of the sentence. Whoever gets the most points from each group (one person per group) gets bonus points on their quiz!

9 Juniors-Thursday March 26 th  What do you think the author’s purpose is? Is it to please an audience or fellow writers, or to instruct as a moralist? Explain your answer.  DGP: mahua enjoys flying kites so we bought her a new ball of string  Capitalization and Punctuation  Charades! Everyone must act them out today or draw a picture with NO WORDS WHAT-SO-EVER!

10 Seniors-Friday March 27 th  What are symbols within literature? Name some that you know of. For example, a dove represents peace. Along with allegory, note any symbols you have incurred within the poem.  Study for your quizzes!

11 Juniors-Friday March 27 th  Given what you know about satire (literary terms this week) what human follies is Irving mocking with this narrative? What details in the story reveal that he was critical about religious beliefs, human values, and gender roles?  STUDY FOR YOUR QUIZZES!
