3 Professional Teaching Portfolio
What and Why? Cumulative assessment for your teacher education degree that shows your mastery of the new teacher standards. Synergizes educational theory and practice. It is a graduation requirement that substitutes for a thesis and/or comprehensive exam. Can be found in GoEd… goed.american.edu “My Portfolio” Please make sure you create a new one and title it appropriately.

20 entries + Introduction, Resume, Philosophy of Education and Conclusion All receive scores of 1, 2, 3 Passing is 2 or 3, will discuss later Many also have a “SPA Form”

Introduction, Resume and Conclusion Introduction, Resume and Conclusion receive one score Philosophy of Education If you have written a POE for a class, please make sure it is updated. Research POE’s and we will also discuss in student teaching seminar Must have an education citation Receives own score

Twenty Unique Portfolio Entries 2 entries per INTASC Standard An entry consists of an description, artifact and reflection… preferably in that order Description (see portfolio requirements) Artifacts (see portfolio requirements) Reflection (see portfolio requirements) 10 reflection citations (1 per standard) Graded through a rubric (page 7 of Requirements document) SPA Forms Math, ESOL, Foreign Language and Social Studies Only

10 PORTFOLIO PROCESS Teacher Candidates Submit Portfolio
Fall: December 10, 9am Spring: Wednesday, April 29 at 9am Summer: Wednesday, July 1 at 9am A note on due dates… Evaluators Grade Portfolio Two evaluators for each portfolio If you receive a score of 1 3rd Reader will evaluate the entry If the 3rd reader scores the entry as a 1, you must edit that entry!

Refer to the Portfolio documents – use these resources! Please ensure all activities are “shared”. All activities will default to share. Formatting Preference: Per standard, 2 entries… Each entry will be in the order of Description, Artifact and Reflection Uploading Videos: Use VIMEO and password protect. State password in the caption box in GoEd. See instructions in GoEd under Important Documents / Portfolio.
