3 Login http://sakai.uri.edu http://sakai.uri.edu Browsers – PC (IE 7 and Firefox), Mac (Firefox) Login ID – the same as you use for eCampus system Login Password – the same as you use for mail.uri.edu system or wireless system If you do not know your password, try your default password which is your birthdate in mmddyyyy format (e.g., 01231970). If it does not work, contact the HelpDesk (874-HELP, press 1, then 1 again) to request a new password.

4 Create a Sakai Course Site (My Workspace  Worksite Setup  New) Policy – Faculty create own Sakai course sites; summer courses starting Feb 1, fall courses starting May 1 and spring courses starting Nov 1. – Students rosters will be loaded to the Sakai course sites automatically, and will be sync’ed with eCampus rosters 4 times a day. – Each site is limited to 1GB of disk space. – Your course description is globally accessible.

5 Create a Sakai Course Site (My Workspace  Worksite Setup  New) During the site creation process, – you will choose if you wish to combine multiple rosters into one course site. – you will choose which tools you wish to use. – you will choose if you wish to copy the materials from other site(s) you own. – you will choose if you wish to ‘publish’ the site for your students to access.

6 Manage a Sakai Course Site ( Site Info ) After the site is created, you may – edit your course description. – Add or remove tools – add more participants (URI or non-URI). – create groups for small group discussion, selective assignments or announcements – add or remove roster(s) – copy materials from other site(s) you own
