Mr. Gs Problem Solving Guidelines
Step #1 Identify and write the variables given in the problem. Ex:V f = 10 m/s V o = 0 t = 2 sec
Step #2 Identify and write the unknown variable. Ex:a = ?
Step #3 Choose the most appropriate equation, and solve it for the unknown variable. Ex: V f - V o = a t a = V f - V o / t
Step #4 Plug N Chug Enter the values with units. a = (10 m/s – 0 m/s) / 2 s Perform the necessary math. Write your answer with units. a = 5 m/s^2
Step #5 Check your answer. Do the units make sense? Does the magnitude seem right?
You are done!

Solving Systems by Substitution (isolated) Solving Systems by Substitution (not isolated)
Solving One Step Equations Notes and Practice Problems.
Substitution Method: 1. Solve the following system of equations by substitution. Step 1 is already completed. Step 2:Substitute x+3 into 2 nd equation.
Solve Equations with Rational Coefficients. 1.2x = 36 Check your answer = x Check 1.2x = (30) = 36 ? 36 = 36 ? 120 = -0.24y
Substitution Method Critical Thinking Skill: Explicitly assess information and draw conclusions Sometimes using the graphing method can be problematic.
