Traditional Church: A place, which runs services and programs to benefit the people in the church. Missional Church: A Place, where people are envisioned and equipped to live on a mission in their world.

We need to be a Missional People and a Missional church …. “The Gospel says, ‘Go,” but our church buildings say, ‘Stay’. The Gospel says, ‘Seek the lost,’ but our churches say, ‘Let the lost seek the church’” (Howard Snyder). “To be a missionary does not necessarily mean crossing the sea, it means seeing the cross” (Loren Cunningham). “The answer to the question, ‘Where is God in all the pain?’ is answered by yet another question, ‘Where are God’s people?’” (Tony Fitzgerald). “Some want to live within the sound of church or chapel bell; I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of hell” (CT Studd).

Six Marks of a Missional Church  It provides an alternate and attractive way of life with Jesus and the Church. 11 Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, 12 “Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.” 14 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.15 At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. 16 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead. Daniel 1: 11-16

25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. 27 The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!”29 The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33 At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. 34 The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household. Acts 15: 25-34

Our lives need to be attractive…  Just coming to church will not make us attractive  Just reading the Bible will not make us attractive  Just praying for 1 hour in a day will not make us attractive.  Just framing some Bible verses in our home will not make us attractive. All these aspects help us to live out Christ in the world outside, and then we would be the most attractive people. “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.” Roman 14: 17-18

 It constantly engages with the community of people around them.  We are programmed to engage with people in the church.  We are in our element in the church.  We are on a high in the church.  We let our juices flow in the church.  We get filled in the church and we get drained in the church.

3 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. 2 Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. 9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. Acts 3: 1-10

 It believes that the “Supernatural” should be a natural phenomenon. “Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.” Acts 2: 43 Luke describes the church as a Supernatural community.

“When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said. 7 For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed. 8 So there was great joy in that city. “Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great, 10 and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, “This man is rightly called the Great Power of God.” 11 They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his sorcery. 12 But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw.” Acts 8: 6-13

"You might as well try to see without eyes, hear without ears, or breathe without lungs, as to try to live the Christian life without the Holy Spirit." - D.L. Moody "Since the days of Pentecost, has the whole church ever put aside every other work and waited upon Him for ten days, that the Spirit's power might be manifested? We give too much attention to method and machinery and resources, and too little to the source of power." - J. Hudson Taylor
